First meaningful appearance

Stevenson first becomes meaningful when Fitz inspects the new Team Ghost before the European campaign. His size, youth, modified armor, Texas background, and college-football past immediately give him identity. His early clash with Blake Tanaka over Tanaka's family blades gives the new roster texture and lets Fitz assert command.

Extinction Lost

In Extinction Lost, Stevenson is part of the team moving into European and cold-weather theaters after punishing fighting in France. His role is heavy fire and physical force, but the details around him, comic books, yoga, sarcasm, make him more than a weapon platform.

Stevenson's main decision is to accept the Ghost patch and fight in a theater where old Variant tactics are unreliable. He suffers injury and concussion but continues to push toward readiness. His final status change is death by Reaver in Europe. The loss hits Fitz, Rico, Dohi, Tanaka, and Apollo as proof that the new team is paying the same price as the old.

Joe Fitzpatrick: Fitz is Stevenson's commander and bears responsibility for him. Stevenson's death becomes part of Fitz's burden as Reed's successor.
