What is the Extinction Cycle?

The Extinction Cycle is a military-apocalyptic saga created by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. It begins when a covert bioweapon program built on the Vietnam-era chemical VX-99 gives rise to the Hemorrhage Virus, a pathogen that transforms people into fast, predatory monsters called Variants. What starts as a failed recovery mission at a secret facility becomes the collapse of the modern world and a long war for humanity's future.

The series follows the soldiers, scientists, and civilians who fight to survive it, most notably Delta Force operator Reed Beckham and CDC scientist Dr. Kate Lovato.
