Extinction Cycle Groups and Factions

Military units, survivor communities, governments, Variant factions, and alliances across the Extinction Cycle universe.

What This Guide Covers

Allied States: is included in this guide. The Allied States is the post-collapse successor polity that grows out of the United States after the Great War of Extinction. It is not simply a renamed country. It is a compressed, fortified, outpost-based civilization built from the survivors of the Hemorrhage Virus, the Variant war, the ROT crisis, and the reconstruction era under President Jan Ringgold.

Beckham Lovato Family: is included in this guide. The Beckham Lovato family is the emotional reward and moral test of the entire Extinction Cycle. Reed begins as a soldier who avoids marriage and children because loss has already taken too much from him. Kate begins as a scientist whose work is inseparable from catastrophe. Their family forms only after both have seen science, military power, and secrecy nearly destroy the world.

Central Command: is included in this guide. Central Command is the wartime command institution through which the United States tries to coordinate the fight against the Hemorrhage Virus and the Variants. Under General Kennor it embodies the old military belief that overwhelming force can solve the crisis. After its fall, George Johnson turns the surviving command apparatus into a more adaptive system tied to the USS George Washington, Operation Extinction, and Ringgold's presidency.

Chimeras: is included in this guide. Chimeras are one of the high-order enemy forms in the Dark Age taxonomy. They are described in project material as half-human or mutant soldiers capable of speed, weapons use, and tactical action. Their existence proves that the New Gods have produced more than feeding bodies. They have engineered or shaped fighters able to operate closer to soldiers than ordinary Variants.

Civilian Investigators: is included in this guide. Civilian Investigators is a wiki grouping for the journalists, detectives, and local inquiry figures who uncover fragments of the VX-99 catastrophe before the main outbreak makes secrecy impossible. It is not an in-world organization. It is a continuity category for people who investigate what the military, corrupt officials, and covert programs prefer to bury.

Civilian Survivors: is included in this guide. Civilian survivors widen The Extinction Cycle beyond soldiers and scientists. They show what the war looks like to people who did not choose a battlefield: firefighters, spouses, children, police officers, teachers, refugees, and families trapped behind collapsing security. Their stories prevent the series from becoming only a military campaign map. They show why the fight matters.

Civilian Witnesses: is included in this guide. Civilian Witnesses is the wiki grouping for ordinary people who see the effects of VX-99, altered violence, Variant-like behavior, or institutional cover-up before the main world understands what is happening. They are not a faction, army, or formal community. They are the people left in the path of secret programs and monsters.

Collaborators: is included in this guide. Collaborators are humans who enable Variants, Alphas, ROT, or the New Gods. Human fear, ambition, coercion, grief, ideology, and survival pressure can extend the reach of nonhuman or tyrannical enemies.

Crossover Characters: is included in this guide. Crossover Characters is the group page for outside-survivor figures who briefly enter the Extinction Cycle world through the Missions Vol. 1 story Extinction: Trippin. Their role is connected but temporary: they support the Atlanta rescue without replacing the main Extinction Horizon arc.

Emergence Firehouse Survivors: is included in this guide. The firehouse survivors turn Emergence into a civilian rescue story rather than a simple outbreak prelude. Meg Pratt is the central figure, but the meaning of her courage depends on the people around her: Tim, Rex, Eric, Jason, Rachel, Abeer, Dayone, Mrs. Cannady, children, parents, and frightened strangers whose names the story does not always preserve.

European Theater: is included in this guide. The European theater is the international front where U.S., Marine Expeditionary, Team Ghost, and European Unified Forces fight Variants that have evolved differently from their American counterparts. It includes Operation Beachhead, Operation Reach, the EUF's defense of major strongholds, Team Ghost's missions in France, and the disastrous realization that radiation can mutate European juveniles instead of killing them.

Extinction Horizon Cast: is included in this guide. Extinction Horizon introduces the two central halves of the franchise: Reed Beckham's military world and Kate Lovato's scientific world. The cast is arranged around that collision. Team Ghost provides action, loyalty, and field sacrifice. The CDC and USAMRIID characters provide virology, containment, and scientific panic. The Medical Corps and Plum Island characters provide secrecy, command, and moral compromise.
