Extinction Cycle Audiobook Listening Order
Start the Extinction Cycle audiobooks in a spoiler-aware order, place Extinction Red Line and Extinction Lost, and check verified audio editions before choosing a branch.
The short answer for first-time listeners
Begin with Extinction Horizon and follow the original series through Extinction War, placing the shorter Extinction Lost after Extinction Aftermath. Save the origin prequel Extinction Red Line for later if you want the opening outbreak mystery intact. Dark Age and the companion branches have their own paths; check the exact recording before buying.
Main-series listening order
The author labels the central novels Books 1–7, and the retailer labels Extinction Lost Book 6.5. That makes a practical audio sequence without pretending the prequel or every anthology is another numbered novel.

A boxed set is not automatically the whole saga. For example, the currently listed Extinction Cycle Boxed Set contains Books 1–3. Check the included-title list of any bundle before treating it as a complete listening path.
Where Extinction Red Line fits
Extinction Red Line is the official origin prequel. The author places it before Horizon in the series catalog, and the story reaches back to the program that precedes the modern outbreak. A chronology-first listener can begin there. A first-time listener who prefers to discover the crisis alongside Team Ghost should start with Horizon and return to Red Line after the opening books or after War. This is a spoiler-preference choice, not a claim that the prequel is Book 1.
The author's Red Line edition page states that an earlier version was rewritten with new chapters and released in audio. That claim belongs to Red Line; it should not be generalized to every current edition.
When to enter Dark Age and the branches
