Overview

The Renegades are the core fighting and survivor unit of the Extinction NZ branch. They form the operational heart of Jack and Dee's side of the New Zealand story, moving from desperate survival to organized resistance and later to a legacy force in the rebuilt country.

The Renegades matter because they carry the NZ branch's identity. The main series has Team Ghost. The Survival branch has Carver, Shrek, Lost Valley, and naval survivors. The NZ branch has Jack, Dee, Boss, Pig, and the Renegades.

Role across the branch

The Renegades should be treated as a living unit whose role changes over time.

Early on, the group emerges from survival pressure and local resistance. During the middle books, it becomes tied to operations against Variant threats, collaborators, and hostile survivor forces. By The Sixth Law, the Renegades represent a legacy fighting force in a country that has supposedly moved into rebuilding.
