Overview

New Zealand survivors are the civilian, military, island, bunker, and Renegades networks that carry the Extinction New Zealand branch of the universe. The branch establishes the major relationship and continuity structure without turning every rumor or casualty claim into a confirmed fact.

Their importance is that they show the global apocalypse outside the United States. The Hemorrhage Virus and Variants do not stop at American borders. They reshape Hamilton, mountain routes, bunkers, Mayor Island, laboratories, mainland missions, and later a rebuilt New Zealand society.

Purpose and origin

The group originates in separated survival. Jack Gee is in the mountains when the outbreak hits, while Dee Gee is trapped in Hamilton with dwindling supplies. Their effort to survive, reunite, protect others, and then serve a larger remnant effort becomes the emotional seed of the New Zealand survivor network.

The purpose evolves across the arc:

Survive the first collapse.

Find loved ones.

Membership

Story evidenceped core membership includes:

Jack Gee: Outdoorsman, separated husband, captive survivor, later mission participant.

Dee Gee: Civilian survivor, spouse, protector, and active fighter whose Katana becomes a symbol of leaving safety to act.

Boss: Young survivor and chosen-family bridge.

Leadership

Leadership shifts by phase. In the first book, Jack and Dee are emotional leads rather than formal commanders. Ben Johns provides a bridge to military organization. By later books, the Renegades and organized remnant structures become more important. The Sixth Law adds post-war family leadership and betrayal within a rebuilt society.

Internal structure

The New Zealand survivor structure is decentralized:

Household and basement survival: Dee, Boss, and local Hamilton survivors.

Mountain and captivity survival: Jack's independent survival and prisoner arc.

Bunker and armed survivor contacts: Fragmented but not dead national response.

Major conflicts

Major conflicts include Jack and Dee's separation, Dee leaving the basement to act, Jack's captivity, Alpha Variant and collaborator threats, the Mayor Island transition, the scientist rescue mission, the laboratory logbook mission, Operation Utu and national recovery context, and the later kidnapping of Dee and Marco by enemies tied to internal betrayal.

Timeline of activity

The Rule of Three: Jack and Dee are separated by the outbreak. Jack is captured by Variants, while Dee survives in Hamilton with limited supplies and Boss.

The Fourth Phase: Seven weeks after the collapse, survivors have fled to Mayor Island and volunteer for remnant army service under Ben Johns on a scientist rescue mission.

The Five Pillars: Seven months after the global outbreak, Jack, Dee, Boss, and the Renegades undertake reconnaissance and a laboratory logbook recovery mission tied to a possible cure.

The Sixth Law: Ten years after New Zealand is retaken, Jack and Dee's rebuilt family and sanctuary are threatened by kidnapping, betrayal, and renewed enemies.

Relationships to other groups

New Zealand survivors connect to global Variant Evolution, Scientific Response, Human Collaborators, and the wider Extinction Cycle side-story ecosystem. They parallel Team Ghost and the Allied States but do not duplicate them. Their branch is more domestic and national at first: marriage, basement, island, remnant army, and local geography.
