Overview
The Lost Valley youth defenders are the older children and teenagers trained into camp defense as the outbreak turns shelter into siege. The group includes Kyle Torrence, Tim Reedy, Lucas Reedy, Gary and Gavin Gringleman, Trey and Brett Darden, and related younger survivors.
This page exists because these names are not all strong enough for separate biographies, but together they are essential to the Survival branch's moral tension. Lost Valley survives by preparing children to fight, while the adults still insist those children are worth protecting.
Training and squad structure
Carver and Kinney organize the youth through shotgun training, safety discipline, squad assignments, radio work, and camp chores. The work is practical, but it is never emotionally neutral. A settlement with too few trained adults has to use teenagers in defense, and the story keeps returning to the cost of that necessity.
Snake Squad, also called the Vipers, places Kyle Torrence under Laura Reedy with Brett Darden and Gavin Gringleman. Wolf Squad, also called the Pack, places Tim Reedy with Carver. The separation of siblings across squads is not only tactical; it protects parents from having to choose which child to send into danger.
Community function
The youth defenders keep Lost Valley from being only Carver's fortress. They help with radio and solar systems, chores, security watches, and eventually the regional defense culture that grows around Warrior's Fate.
Their presence also lets the wiki track a major theme: survival skills can preserve childhood only if the adults remember why the children are being trained.
