The Sixth Law arc
Moehau enters the story after the D'Urville attack, commanding or accompanying Variants that capture Dee and Marco. He speaks in broken words, gives orders, and refuses to behave like a normal feral Alpha. He later hands captives over to the Keepers and appears tied to Rodney's wider network.
During the forced journey south, Dee recognizes that Moehau is different from the other Variants. She gives him Marco's spare Rubik's Cube, and he becomes fascinated by it. Later, the solved cube and his continued attachment to it confirm that he has cognition, memory, and a kind of personal identity.
In the Mount Murchison arc, Moehau returns at critical moments. He helps Dee survive the albino Alpha and the webbing cavern, carries her through the cave system, fights beside her against feral Variants and Keepers, and later accepts the Ice Queen's permission to leave the region. Dee tells him to go live peacefully, and he departs with the cube.
Relationships
Dee Gee: Begins as his captive but later becomes a person he protects. Dee treats his intelligence seriously.
Marco Gee: Moehau's connection to Marco is symbolized by the Rubik's Cube.
Rodney: Human Keeper who uses Moehau as a terror weapon but never truly controls him.
Anna Sutton: The Ice Queen recognizes Moehau as a separate hybrid whose path can diverge from her own.
Abilities and traits
Moehau is much larger and stronger than ordinary Variants. He has fur that helps camouflage him in forested terrain, can move rapidly across rugged country, can speak in limited but meaningful words, and can coordinate or intimidate other Variants. He also shows problem-solving ability through the Rubik's Cube and emotional restraint through his protection of Dee and Marco.
Ending status
Moehau survives the mountain battle. He gives Dee the Rubik's Cube, but she tells him to keep it and live peacefully. The Ice Queen allows him to cross the Alps and make his own way, leaving his future open.
